L“Peace or Drama, I don’t wanna choose,” sings Eve Fleishman on the title track of her new album, and it’s clear that she really doesn’t wanna. “These songs are either about seeking peace or wallowing in drama,” says Eve, “and that’s kind of how life goes, isn’t it?” Songs that crackle with smoldering heat and despair (Linger, What Have I Done, Wounded by You) nestle sweetly with nostalgic triumphs of love and hope (I Know, Not a Day Goes By, Simply Be).
Eve Fleishman serves up a sound that is at once refreshingly new and strikingly familiar. She weaves together elements of smoky jazz, motowny pop, showtunes and even a dab of country folk to create a most unique listening experience. “I like a little bit of everything,” admits Fleishman. Since her days as a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Eve has honed her craft as a multi-faceted singer and songwriter.
After moving to Nashville, she released two CDs in 2007, a collection of jazz standards and an album of original kids’ music with her duo, Eve and Mare. Eve’s music has been played on radio stations world-wide (including XM) and she has appeared live on both TV and radio, including the Mitch Albom Show. She tours regularly in the U.S. and has graced the stage at Eddie’s Attic (Atlanta), Cain’s Ballroom (Tulsa), and the Ryman Auditorium (Nashville), just to name a few.
In addition to her performances, Eve leads songwriting workshops and teaches yoga classes for singers and musicians. This independent “Jill of All Trades” has no thoughts of slowing down. Eve is now promoting a second kids’ album while booking dates to showcase the new solo project, Peace or Drama.
The new album features some of Nashville’s finest, including David Henry, Charlie Worsham, Nomad Ovunc, Brook Sutton, and Daniel Dennis. Dennis, who produced the album with Eve, aimed to capture a live feel for the project, incorporating many acoustic instruments such as upright bass, mandolin, horns, strings, and baby grand piano. The result is a charming cache of tunes that establishes Eve Fleishman as a songstress for the ages, her music appealing to audiences young and old.
“I just want to share my music and hope it makes a connection somehow,” says Fleishman. The connection is clear on Peace or Drama. With a stellar cast of musicians backing Eve’s sultry vocals and engaging lyrics, the listener will be moved to play this gem of a record again and again.
What they're saying about Eve:
"Listening to Peace or Drama makes you feel like you're sitting in a plush booth in some smoky old jazz club with a glass of red wine soaking in the sounds of a long bygone era. From the opening bars and brushes of 'Pretty Moon' to the sultry sounds of 'Linger' and the sweetly playful 'I Know,' Eve and her producer Daniel Dennis have assembled a finely crafted collection of songs that fill the air with heartache, heartbreak and love." - John Tumminello, Music City Unsigned
“Beautiful voice and great live show. I love this music!” – Chris Jordan, WRFN Nashville
“A perfect performance.” – Jan Schmidt, The Laurinburg Exchange
"With a solid lineup of self-penned and well-seasoned songs, Eve captures both the serenity of Norah Jones and the swagger of Erykah Badu. Her vocals are fun and lighthearted on 'I Know,' soft and delicate on 'Wounded by You,' and packed with plenty of ‘tude on the title track, 'Peace or Drama.' This album is a joy to listen to, and with the stellar musicians creating some serious magic, this is one album that you must own." - Daniel Dennis, Prime Cut Records
