That&#8217;s right, I&#8217;m headed to <strong>New Mexico<\/strong> for three gigs coinciding with <strong>Balloon Fiesta<\/strong>, the largest hot air balloon festival in the world:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>October 9\u00a0 Art of the Song Creativity Radio\u00a0 Albuquerque<\/li>\n<li>October 10 Balloon Fiesta in Old Town\u00a0 Albuquerque<\/li>\n<li>October 10 The High Note\u00a0 Santa Fe<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>New Mexico has been good to me lately &#8211; this is my fourth musical landing there in four years. I&#8217;m especially thankful to the Cochranes, a family of musicians who has been hosting me, supporting me, even performing with me in this &#8220;Land of Enchantment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.evefleishman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Image-12.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-342 alignleft\" alt=\"Image 1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.evefleishman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Image-12-248x300.jpg\" width=\"248\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.evefleishman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Image-12-248x300.jpg 248w, https:\/\/www.evefleishman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Image-12-846x1024.jpg 846w, https:\/\/www.evefleishman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Image-12.jpg 885w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 248px) 100vw, 248px\" \/><\/a><strong>Dr. Keith Cochrane<\/strong>, who invited me twice to perform with the San Juan College orchestra in Farmington, has retired from his music director job and moved with his family to Albuquerque. This time he is putting together a jazz trio for my shows &#8211; he will play keys and horns and his daughter (<strong>Brooklyn Cochrane<\/strong>) will play and sing with me as well. Did I mention they are a musical family? Props to wife\/mother\/player, <strong>Kristen Cochrane<\/strong>, who will also be helping in a myriad of ways over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>And here are two more people in New Mexico I love to love: <strong>Viv Nesbitt<\/strong> and <strong>John Dillon<\/strong>. Four years ago, they interviewed me on their <a href=\"http:\/\/artofthesong.org\/live-events\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Art of the Song<\/em><\/a> radio program when I was traveling through on my <a title=\"Adventures of a Singing Hobo\" href=\"http:\/\/www.evefleishman.com\/blog\/adventures-of-a-singing-hobo\/\" target=\"_blank\">Peace or Drama tour<\/a>. Now they&#8217;ve asked me back, this time for an interview\/concert in front of a live audience.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.evefleishman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Viv-and-John.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-344 alignright\" alt=\"Viv and John\" src=\"http:\/\/www.evefleishman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Viv-and-John.jpg\" width=\"188\" height=\"209\" \/><\/a>Viv and John support artists in so many wonderful ways, including <a href=\"http:\/\/standingoproject.com\/artist\/evefleishman\" target=\"_blank\">The Standing &#8220;O&#8221; Project<\/a>. Thanks, John and Viv, for giving people a way to support us!<\/p>\n<p>In addition to my <em>Art of the Song<\/em> show on Friday night, I somehow landed a gig singing to Balloon Fiesta tourists at <strong>Old Town Plaza<\/strong> on Saturday morning. Yep, that&#8217;s right. I get to lift my voice to a flying fantasia of balloons in the desert sky. Now <em>that&#8217;s<\/em> a first!
